2010 Cotton Bowl Finds a New Home

With under 2 minutes to go in the game, a sign popped up on the Ole Miss side that read, "Two Times a Charm!". That pretty much sums up the 2010 Cotton Bowl, as Ole Miss wins it 21 - 7.

Houston Nutt brings in another 9 win season, making that 2 in a row. He brings in another Cotton Bowl Championship, making that 2 in a row.

The Cotton Bowl relocated to Jerry Jones' new living room, and what a view.

Dexter McCluster and company brought their A game. The defense had a monster goal line stand, and we were in for a great afternoon.

McCluster broke a punt return 86 yards and OK State was not even close to touching him. Zigging and zagging to pay dirt, and going air born when needed, Dexter was on his way to 184 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns. He added in another 45 yards receiving and earned the Offensive Game Ball.

Ole Miss' Defense was ready to play. The Senior, Kendrick Lewis, had 2 interceptions - One went to the house, and earned the Defensive Game Ball. The goal line stand was huge and really set the tone for the game.

Georgia Defeats A&M in the Independence Bowl

Georgia handles their business in Shreveport and defeats Texas A&M 44 - 20.

Both teams came out a little rusty and punted away the first quarter. Texas A&M connected first with a touchdown from Johnson to McCoy. The pair connected on 15 yard pass.

Georgia's defense led via a group effort (Coach Richt, Coach Garner and two Graduate Assistants) did a pretty good job of bending but not breaking. A&M racked up the yardage but they did not rack up the points.

Georgia's offense did not really show up in the first half, but the special teams did. A blocked field goal by big Geno Atkins set the tone early, and ignited the Dawgs.

After the initial touchdown by Texas A&M, Georgia's Brandon Boykin returned the kick 81 yards for a TD.

The next possession A&M was back to punt and Bacarri Rambo blocked the kick. Georgia setup First and Goal and Caleb King punched it in (Michael Moore was present to scoop up the touchdown, but the officials credited King with the TD).

A&M was short on timeouts as the first half wrapped up and the score at the half was UGA 14 - A&M 7.

Georgia pulled away big time in the second half putting up an additional 30 points to A&M's 13. Aaron White put a pair of TD's and Caleb King and Shaun Chapas both got a TD.

Even though Georgia was out gained in the game in total yards as A&M gained 471 to Georgia's 366, the final score did not reflect as Georgia had the lead and kept it via some key interceptions, and grinded it out on the ground in the second half.

Georgia finished the night with 208 yards on the ground and 158 in the air. Georgia's secondary got 2 interceptions on the night and shutdown A&M's comeback attempts.

Georgia has won 13 of last 16 bowl games and improves to 7-2 in the postseason under coach Mark Richt.

Clemson Proves Too Much for Kentucky in Music City Bowl

Last night looked to be a cold one in Nashville, and CJ Spiller and company were too much for Kentucky in a 21 - 13 victory. The win puts Clemson at 9-5 on the year and drops Kentucky to 7-6.

Kentucky took the lead early with a Newton to Matthews TD pass, which had Clemson's secondary turned around, but that lead did not hold. A pretty pass from Parker to Ford tied the game right back up at 7-7.

Clemson amassed 312 total yards of Offense, and held Kentucky to just 277 total yards. Down the stretch Kentucky could not convert on a 4th and long. Ricky Sapp for Clemson came up big as he tackled Newton just shy of a first down.

CJ Spiller, who played a good portion of the year with turf toe, battled through last night and went out on a high note. He becomes the only player in ACC History to have a touchdown in every game of the season. He finished with 172 total yards last night and 1 TD.

In addition, Clemson's defense played outstanding. The entire squad showed up when it counted most.

Coach Brooks for Kentucky just coached his last game. He will more more than likely be handing the reigns over to Joker Phillips for the 2010 season.
